Dallas Comic Con: An Unexpected Journey

I went to Dallas Comic Con on Saturday, for no particular reason, with my girlfriend. She originally wanted to go just to cosplay as Robin, again. Unfortunately she was unable to find her costume, so we went as normal folk. I took it upon myself to film my experience at Dallas Comic Con. I’ve never filmed an event before and this would be my first. The attempt was a not as good as I hoped. At least I thought so. Going around Comic Con and asking people if you could take a picture, when in reality you are filming them, results in an awkward 6-second staring contest.
This would be my second time going to DCC. The event wasn’t a total disaster. It was actual a good experience; although I didn’t go to any panels or dress up. The best part was going through the exhibit. Looking at movie posters, flipping through old comics, and browsing through old 70s figurines felt like going through my grandparent’s attic. I even encountered new sci-fi reads like Exophobe by D. Kenton Mellott and TheSamsara Effect by Paul Black. Along with some distinguishable artist like Russell Walks, Ben Bender, Jason Chalker, Devin Kraft, and Yehudi Mercado. The exhibit was very interesting and time consuming.

Perhaps the best part of the DCC was meeting the cosplayers. I captured a few, which I’ll show. The problem is I made an amateur mistake of not writing the names of all the people I filmed. So, if you see anybody you know feel free to comment and provide their name. But the highlight of my day was meeting Jared Knabenbauer. It’s not everyday I meet someone I actually want to meet. We didn’t sit down or conversate, I simply shook the guys hand and took a picture with him, but it felt like the greatest moment of my life, even though I bumped into him.

Dallas Comic Con turned out better than I expected. Even though I didn’t meet a noteworthy actor. The most interesting part of DCC was the community. I can’t wait for DCC next year. Who knows, I may actually dress up and film a better video. I want to thank my friend Busta for providing us with Comic Con tickets; you my friend are a lifesaver.
